
It’s a big day for employees of San Bernardino County where the county Board of Supervisors are put to vote on the bizarre proposal that strictly bans visible tattoos. The new dress code has raised many eyebrows that enforce casual dress at work simply eliminating jeans, t-shirts, nose rings and tattoos. That’s just it; tattoos can’t hamper one’s work or performance. This, work performance, isn’t the issue either. The issue is the close minded outdated mentality of those in power. Those few near-elites in the work place make policy based on THEIR opinions of what is acceptable. Someone probably thought that tattoos were dirty and only criminals had them. Now they’re to be covered up. I just thought up an interesting question. Just because they are covered doesn’t mean the tattoo is not there. Will the next step in employment be to have them removed for continued employment?
