Don’t mix tattooing with breastfeeding. It is safe if the tattoo is an old one. But don’t go for a new one if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s a myth that the tattoo ink particles injected into the top layer of the skin can get inside the blood stream and ultimately into the breast milk. But the possibility of other infections and allergic reactions depending on your skin type cannot be ruled out, which may affect your baby too.
While pregnant avoid getting a tattoo, wait until you’re no longer breastfeeding. Choose a clean and hygienic tattoo parlor with professionals at work. Not following aftercare instructions may also lead to severe infections.

I have done a lot of research on this matter seeing that my husband is a tattoo artist and I have wanted him to do some work on me after the birth of our son 4 months ago. I have asked my son’s doctor and plenty others, but from this web site and other people and tattoo artist I have found this:
http://www.lalecheleague.org/FAQ/tattoos.html
”The ink that is used in tattoos in the United States is subject
to FDA regulation as cosmetics, but none are approved for injection under the skin. However, the ink molecules are too large to pass into breastmilk.”
also this was important to know as well through this web page:
”It is suggested that mothers wait at least until the child’s first birthday to give their bodies a chance to
recover completely from childbirth before getting a tattoo.”
But, I do believe in not getting any related tattoo work done when you pregnant.
I hope that you found this as interesting as I did. The site goes more into detail with it. To much for me to put up in your site, I just recommend you to check it out.
