The incident of four Anne Arundel County, Annapolis, Maryland teenagers contracting infection after getting tattoos would have been averted if the Bill imposing checks on skin art and piercing would have been enforced eight years ago. Strong opposition from tattoo artists killed the Bill and the issue was never raised again.
Most of the time the decision to get a tattoo is taken in haste and precautionary measures like use of sterilized needles, gloves and aftercare are neglected, especially in unlicensed parlors. Better check out for a clean and safe tattoo parlor with artists having license and some experience.
