That is an awesome tattoo. I love the meaning behind the tattoo. I love it so much I’m going to get one. I’m not samoan (African American) but I love the meaning that involves family and culture.

I just read that Each tattoos is a unique work designed for and with each individual. They should not be copied or replicated without permission of the person wearing the tattoo. I do not want to be disrespectful to the meaning or his ancestors.

In 2009 I have a student exchange with someone from New Zealand. When there, I hope to get a Samoan tattoo too. I’ve read some things about it and only want one, when it is official. So nothing fake I can also get here in Amsterdam.

I have loved the Rock since my nephew showed him to me on wwe.I think he is the most sexiest man alive.I hope he keeps his beautiful face in the movies.

OK, I need to set some of you straight on this. First of all, The Rock and I had the same tattoo artist. The artist is not Hawaiian; he’s Tahitian. He used to have a shop in the Waikiki area called New Tribal Tattoo. Anyway the guys name is Po’oino (I have NO idea what his last name is).

The Rock’s tattoo has SOME Samoan imagery to it; however, because the artist is Tahitian, it obviously has a Marquesian flair to it. Even my very traditional Hawaiian amakua tattoo looks a bit Tahitian/Marquesian. The traditional Samoan Pe’a looks nothing like the tattoo that The Rock has. The ”younger” generations have adapted some of their tattoo’s to be a bit more aesthetically pleasing (the traditional pe’a goes from around the nipple area to just above the knees...almost like a half suit).

And as a Polynesian, let me state here that I have no idea why non-poly people feel the need to get Samoan/Hawaiian/Tribal tattoos. The tat’s are representative of OUR culture and experiences. Tattoos are supposed to have a meaning to YOU. If you don’t know the meaning behind the images, then why get one? Peace.

The Rocks Tattoo is cool as f*ck and klindo y the hell did u write that? ppl get tattoos coz they want to, coz they think it looks good or they just want to copy their favourite wrestler, actor pop star whatever. Just bcoz ppl arnt poly doesnt mean they cant get one. your just bein a prick towards non poly ppl i would call that racism

All they request is respect of their culture, and when you wear one, it is because you apreciate and respect this culture. The vast majority of Polynesian tattooists will welcome a non-Polynesian and agree to tattoo them.
