Until now I had seen only lotus and wheel as the Buddhist tattoos. An amulet tattoo is a better idea in this respect. It not only decorates the neck as black-metal-jewelry, but also carries some magical power that helps you in the time of bad luck. Here the middle one contains some Buddhist related alphabetic characters while the smaller two depict some picture. This Buddhist devotee is intelligent enough to ink one talismanic tattoo; so that there is no fear of losing the amulet or any hassle of managing the neckpiece all the time.

An amulet can be any type of charm or talisman that is worn for protection from harm (or to bring good fortune) and it has taken many forms throughout time, including the tattoo. From the VENUS figurines of Neanderthal man, the SCARAB of ancient Egypt, or the ZUNI FETISH, to painted and tattooed images of numerous magic symbols, verses of sacred text, or the modern-day lucky RABBIT’S foot, amulets take on special meaning to the bearer. They actually become something that embodies the power that they symbolize, whether they are worn in life or death. The immediacy, permanence, and physical closeness of tattooed amulets make them a special class—a symbol that cannot be accidentally lost, a protection that is al ways present, and power that is constantly in one’s possession. firstly thanks for picking up on the tattoo, nice one!
However... there is a better description on my own site www.tatt2dude.com than there is on www.thaitattoostudio.com
None of the symbols are Buddhist they are actually Dutch dialect for ”mum” and a couple of others I cant recall, the inspiration was the amulets, the reason there are three is that amulets can only be worn in multiples of 3, either one, three or nine I believe the max is 12.
To place the Buddhist symbols inside the amulet would be a risky business for this Thailand resident. At certain times amulets HAVE to be removed... during lovemaking for one... had we used real buddhist images this client may have faced a divorce due to no longer being able to carry out his ”commitments”.
This is just one reason.. there are many others, nice write up though and some interesting info and history.
Thanks.
but it’s ugly
